Entryway of the "Segovia" apartments in Denver's Cheesman Park neighborhood, featuring a Moorish-inspired horseshoe arch, layered brickwork, and a deeply recessed portal that contribute to the building's Spanish Eclectic style. Below the arch, an oversized transom filled with a grid of glass panes makes the entry feel taller and more monumental. The carved stone "shoulders" at the base of the arch serve as visual hinges, elegantly connecting the arch to the portal below and contribute to a larger stone accent system that includes the stone-tile panel above the arch and the stone caps atop the flanking piers. A pair of tall narrow lanterns complete the old-world look. The whole composition is reserved but romantic, and one of my favorite doors in the neighborhood.

Spanish Eclectic and Spanish Colonial Revival architectural styles were hugely popular with early 20th century architects in Denver.
