The Corona Bar on Pollokshaws Road in Glasgow, looking great with its recent new coat of paint. Designed by Clarke and Bell, and built in 1912, it's one of quite a large number of surprisingly ornamental 'turn-of-the-century' public houses across the city.

Some rather unusual tenements on Baker Street on the southside of Glasgow. The street itself only seems to have come into existence in the early 1900s, but I've no idea when the tenements themselves date from.

Rawcliffe Lodge in the Shawlands area of Glasgow. Built in 1862, it was probably designed by John Burnet Senior as a Franco-Scots Renaissance style villa for Alexander Bannatyne Stewart. He was the Stewart in the wholesale clothing business Stewart and McDonald, which owned the warehouse on the corner of Buchanan Street and Argyle Street that I featured yesterday.

The rather stunning Shawlands United Free Church (now Shawlands Trinity Church) on the Southside of Glasgow. Designed by Miller and Black in a distinctive Late Perpendicular Gothic style, it was built in 1900.

Love the architect's choice of putting a column of bay windows dow the centre of the corner on these tenemen at the junction between Moss-Side Road and Dinmont Road in the Shawlands area of Glasgow.

The pillared and domed entrance to the A-Listed former Waverley Cinema in the Shawlands area of Glasgow. Designed by Watson, Salmond and Gray in 1922, this was one of the city's first purpose-built cinemas.

Crossmyloof Mansions at Shawlands Cross in Glasgow. This is another of Glasgow's magnificent 19th century gushet tenement buildings with, of course, space for a pub on the ground floor. I always think buildings like this look like giant stone trams just getting ready to move off down the street.

A Glasgow tenement and its neighbouring former bank building on the corner of Moss-Side Road and Pollokshaws Road at Shawlands Cross on the Southside of the city. The latter was designed by Neil C. Duff and was built in 1906.
