I was lucky enough to visit Cairo’s old Christian and Jewish quarters.I found a lovely series of contemporary mosaics in a courtyard in front of the famous Coptic Hanging Church.
I haven’t found information about this specific mosaic yet and I’m not familiar with Coptic iconography so I’m not sure who this depicts. That looks like a halo but there’s a cross on his forehead so I don’t think that would be Jesus. Perhaps a Coptic saint?
