For today’s #StandingStoneSunday here’s a photo from last October’s visit to the amazing Callanish Stones on the Isle of Lewis in #Scotland. This is a view of the chambered tomb which was added later after the main stones were erected. Amazingly the site was buried under two meters (six feet) of peat for several thousand years before the stones and site were rediscovered in 1857. It is a fantastic place to visit. #standingstones #stonecircles #neolithic #OhCon

Today was a tour of the island and I got taken to the Callanish Stone Circle. It was amazing and I’ll post photos of it over the next several #StandingStoneSunday weeks. #scotland #neolithic #lewis

Today was a tour of the island and I got taken to the Callanish Stone Circle. It was amazing and I’ll post photos of it over the next several #StandingStoneSunday weeks. The stones were erected around 5000 years ago which makes them even older than the more famous #Stonehenge #scotland #neolithic #lewis
