Impressive.
This year on October Big Day (October 11, 2025), folks who submitted eBird checklists reported 2.1 million individual birds.
It was also the first day in October ever to surpass 100,000 checklists in a single day.
On 11 October 2025, birders from every continent came together in a powerful, shared moment of celebration known as October Big Day. Over the course of 24 hours, the birding world united in a common goal to observe, record, and celebrate the avian diversity around us.
Yes, Your Majesty. I agree that today's weather was not ideal for our #OctoberBigDay!
(Belted Kingfisher, #FannoCreek #wetlands, #Oregon, west coast USA)
A very decent #OctoberBigDay: 52 species, including the glamour boys (eagle, kingfisher), summer birds hanging in (black redstart), and winter birds (bean goose and coal tit are _back_).
This little fella is already at the #library getting ready for the #OctoberBigDay organized by Lab Cornell, and beat his own record while he is at it, surely!
Have fun, everyone who will participate at the event all around the world, and happy birdwatching! 🐦🍁
