Hello #Fediverse, today’s OS-tan is Windows 97-tan, a lesser-known OS-tan representing Windows 97 which does not exist as an actual OS (or it was as the first test version for 98, Windows Memphis Developer Release). Often called Nana-chan, she’s depicted as a cheerful little girl with brown hair styled in buns with braids.

There is a gag in the era of Windows 7 of her covering up the Kanji on her forehead except for the '7', trying to pass herself off as Windows 7-tan in hopes of rising from obscurity and gaining more recognition.

Although she represents a version of Windows that never officially released, Windows 97-tan has her own storage facility on older OS-tan image vaults.

Her first appearance remains unknown, but she has been suggested as the personified version of Windows 7 in certain translations

Hello #Fediverse, here’s today’s daily OS-tan!

This is Saba-tan, the personification of Windows Server 2003! Saba-tan is part fish, part girl and wears an ethernet hub on her head like a bonnet. Her name is a pun on "server" (サーバー, saabaa) and "mackerel" (鯖, saba), which is why she’s depicted as a fishy character.

She started as a one-off character dressed in a mackerel costume but as OS-tans became popular, she got a more defined look and became a regular in OS-tan stories.

Hello #Fediverse, today’s OS-tan, or "OS-tan", is Claudia Madobe (クラウディア・窓辺), the official Japanese mascot for Microsoft Azure!

Claudia made her debut on May 23, 2011 in *Cloud Girl – Windows, Clouds and Blue Sky* (クラウド ガール -窓と雲と碧い空-), a webcomic released by Microsoft Japan to introduce and explain cloud technology. She was designed by Wakaba, the same artist behind Nanami Madobe. Though she is not an OS some people may group her with them anyway.

Claudia is an experienced Windows Azure developer with a master’s degree in engineering and over two years of practical development experience.

She excels in cloud computing and can sometimes come across as a little superior to beginners, but she’s always willing to teach and share her expertise. She often collaborates with her Madobe cousins, Nanami, Yū, and Ai in promotional events and campaigns as well as with her colleague, Ruri Azumi and is voiced by Eri Kitamura.

Yū and Ai debuted in Japan in 2012 as part of the Windows 8 Pro DSP Commemorative Packs created by Windows Navi+. These packs included exclusive system sounds and wallpapers

The sisters share a birthdate of November 18, 1996. Both are the same height at 152 cm, which is 8 cm shorter than Nanami, but their personalities set them apart.

Both sisters struggle with sports but excelled in tech. Their voices were provided by talented actresses Asuka Nishi (Yū) and Nao Tamura (Ai), who even sang together in promotional tracks like *Whatever the Future Holds*.

Hello #Fediverse, here’s today’s daily OS-tan!

This one is Nanami Madobe (窓辺ななみ), the official mascot for Windows 7 in Japan! She’s one of the most well-known OS-tans to many people.

A Twitter account dedicated to her was created on September 14, 2009, to share Windows 7 updates, while her first official appearance came shortly after. On September 24, 2009, it was revealed that Nanami was part of a special Windows 7 Ultimate promotional bundle, limited to 7,777 preorders. This exclusive set included system sounds and wallpapers.

Born on April 6, Nanami is depicted as a first-year college student from a tech-savvy family with a father and brother who are PC enthusiasts. Despite being inexperienced, she was roped into working part-time at a computer parts shop when Windows 7 debuted.

Hello #Fediverse, here’s today’s daily OS-tan!

This is Windows 3.1-tan, also known as Ōbaba-sama (大婆様), a personification of Windows 3.1! She’s a quiet and graceful character often depicted in a long, frilly violet gown with a 3.1 brooch on her collar.

Ōbaba has a unique connection to DOS Kitty, her inseparable companion who represents DOS. This relationship reflects Windows 3.x’s reliance on DOS. In some depictions, DOS Kitty is portrayed as a black cat, while in others, she’s a small catgirl nurse.

In the OS-tan family, Ōbaba is considered the younger sister of Oichi (Windows 1.0-tan) and the older sister of NT-Mama. She’s also often seen as Windows 95-tan's mother.

Originally, Ōbaba did not exist as a character and Windows 3.1 was portrayed as a box similar to what Windows 98 and 98SE-tan have but more recent depictions prefer the human design by EG33. Her manner of speaking is often ending sentences with "ja". Despite being retired, she’s depicted tending a family shrine or occasionally donning military uniforms, suggesting a proactive role in the "OS Wars."

Ōbaba’s design debuted in 2004.

Hello #Fediverse, here’s today’s daily OS-tan!

This one is of Neptune-tan, a OS-tan of Windows Neptune, the canceled Windows version. Neptune-tan is often depicted as a strong and fierce character, sometimes shown wielding large weapons and surrounded by friends like Windows 97, Odyssey, Moseko, and various designs of Longhorn.

She wears a black, sleeveless qipao with blue accents and red bracelets, a red talisman is on her collar and she has mechanical headpieces that give her a slightly futuristic vibe. Her long, green pigtails are usually accompanied by a red visor which has become one of her most recognisable features.

Several of her artworks were created by an artist known as イオンのバイド (Ion no Baido) on Pixiv such as the first image shown, though it’s believed they did not originate her concept due to differing art styles.
