The value of Open Source Software is > 8.8 Trillion if OSS doesn't exist and each company has to rewrite what they use.

I have no information on #FOSSY2026 sponsors other than https://2026.fossy.ca/sponsorship/.
I mean, #OIN should sponsor β but maybe they're afraid to do so because we ask during announcements each day of the event for the businesses who sponsored to stop their bad behavior (often listing specific bad behaviors). Maybe Keith Bergelt can't take that heat from us! π
But, while OIN buying ββ at #OSCON was the inspiration of the abbreviation, I didn't believe it to be OIN-specific, was it?
#OSCON was the only true interdisciplinary #FOSS conference in North America. It had a serious flaw that it was controlled by a for-profit company. Nevertheless, it was the only event here that brought *every* area of FOSS together each year.
The pandemic ended OSCON; it never came back. Other events exist, but they're not events where FOSS creators from every discipline meet.
#FOSSY shall become the #FOSDEM of North America (but you can actually walk in the hallsπ€£).
All the talks at PyCascades from yesterday were great. I missed a couple talks because I was doing final rehearsal for my own talk, but I'm planning to watch them later.
Sadly I can't join in person today, but I know the talk lineup is just as great as yesterday's.
I'm awake, and at the airport for the 5 AM flight to Washington D.C.
I'm headed to GW OSCON, which I just learned, was also the site for the first ever PyCon back in 2003! π€©

@funnelfiasco Still remember #OSCON 2013 when #GitHub keynote proudly proclaimed #GPL as the "least free" OSS license or something like that.
