@beka_valentine precisely that

In fact there are only foir reasons that determine wages:

1. Can it be automated or outsorced overseas?
2. How spechalized is it?
3. How organized are the workers?
4. Are said workers willing to strike?

I.e. #Carework is paid shit despite neither being outsorceable nor automateable nor trivial is because #Careworkers ain't organized nor willing to strike, knowing that doing so will cause pain, suffering and death!

Whereas a #COBOL programmer maintaining the #OS360 code of a big bank is just a business expense to the bank even if called in to fix broken code at 0300 local for a 6-digit pay or 5-digit hourly rate repsectably...

Hello #Fediverse, here's your "daily" OS-tan art!

This one is of OS/360-tan!

She is still fiercely patriotic from her leadership of the old IBM guild, and is prone to spouting company rhetoric. Is mildly schizophrenic, notoriously clumsy (prone to fragmentation), and not good at multitasking, but is still successful at her work, science and government work being her specialty. She is known to be very boisterous and hot-headed, yet is more easy-going than most of her sisters, and when she thinks clearly, she is very charismatic and leader-like.

She is territorial and possessive, even if she may be friendly with others. She also despises competing OS-tans that are able to operate on System/360 mainframes, like MTS.

OBIT Dr Frederick Phillips Brooks Jr, leader of IBM's OS/360 project and the man chiefly responsible for the prevalence of the eight-bit byte, has died at the age of 91.

Fred Brooks was the project lead for OS/360, IBM's flagship OS for its vastly influential S/360 line of computers. His experience on this project led him to write probably the most famous book about project management, The Mythical Man-Month. From that book came several famous dictums about computing. Some notable examples include:

- "Adding manpower to a late software project makes it later."
- "The bearing of a child takes nine months, no matter how many women are assigned."
- "All programmers are optimists."
