Update.
Got tired of dealing with #Optima cat n mouse, hot potato, so-called "customer service". Called the online retailer, and got a refund fairly painlessly.
Because refund was in-house, and because *current* consensus among users (including me) about the crankworthiness (it's word, shut up) of the Yellow Top AGMs, I am going to stick with that.
Seems their QAQC is either entirely absent or woefully inadequate. Warranty also went bad, customer service wise. Obstacles, tap dancing, hemming and hawing about warrant terms.
TL;DR if you ever connected your battery to your vehicle, they want to convince you it's the wrong way to use a battery. Should leave it on a bench, connected to a charger, forever, it seems.
Excuses for shoddy manufacturing, that is what it is.
This is the second #Optima #BlueTop battery to crap out on me.
Application is a #Jeep with a winch. I acquired this battery as a replacement to another one which died on me at 13-14months, wouldn't retain 12V. This one, 6-7months after bought won't charge over 06V.
Used to be, Optima was one of the best go-to solutions for any off-roader. Alas, no more. I am kinda hoping their Yellow Top series have not come to the same sad end.
