That said, a lot of the same issues I had with #Listmonk remain: https://mastodon.design/@candidexmedia/115915332196142838

I haven't been able to try all that #Notifuse has to offer, but the email automations, drip campaigns, webhooks, multi-domain support, preheaders, better custom contact fields, and more advanced email editor are still advantages that the tool has over Listmonk.

That said, I'm not super thrilled with either option...

For point #2 regarding the mailing list archive: #Listmonk also shines here, offering tons of options, customized templates, and even an RSS feed that people can subscribe to.

#Notifuse, however, doesn't seem to have this option at all...

To my first point on subscription forms: #Notifuse's docs on the topic are pretty technical, and require some API+JS knowhow: https://docs.notifuse.com/tutorials/newsletter-form-input

Otherwise, the docs say, just use AI... ๐Ÿซ ๐Ÿ™ƒ

#Listmonk, in comparison, gives you a ready-made HTML form that you can just copy and paste into a webpage, or you can use the built-in subscription page. This is pretty standard across the mass emailing tools I've used.

I'm revisiting this topic, months later, because I still haven't fully migrated to Pikapods yet, and I haven't decided which platform to use for my #EmailMarketing.

I've been sampling the #Notifuse demo (https://demo.notifuse.com) over the last few weeks, and have found a few more flaws:

- There isn't a straightforward HTML form action URL to collect subscription forms, like you can with other options.

- There's no archive option, AFAIK.

Console | Notifuse

Currently pitting semi-self-hostedยน #Listmonk and #Notifuse against my current newsletter host #Buttondown. Want to know how they fare.

I really like BD but my subscriber base is >1k which means I spend $29 on each monthly mail. Fiscally, that's not a winning proposition right now for me as I'm still not made of money, and all those costs add up.

I need to bring my own mail server for both (or use one of the supported services, like SES or Postmark.)

ยน) PikaPods.com FTW! #EU, too

#Notifuse is pretty overall but the drag-and-drop template editor doesn't do it for me. It insists on centering content within the available width in the recipient's mail client, and I don't care for that look at all.

Plus the terminology is a bit weird. Newsletter issues are "templates", campaigns are "broadcasts"โ€ฆ okay. Not a big deal but my confusion added to the learning curve.

It's really not bad, yet I don't think it's for me.

@ernie.tedium.co I'm currently using Listmonk for newsletter (hosted on Railway), but I'm in the process of migrating to Pikapods: either to host #Listmonk or #Notifuse. Notifuse has the advantage of having built-in automations.

(2/2)

#Notifuse is the one I'm the most excited to try out. It has the contact management and analytics offerings I'm used to from proprietary apps, some seemingly well-rounded docs, a preheader field for emails, and automations. There's even a blog function to compete with the likes of #Substack (though, no RSS-to-email as of yet).

It also has a one-click deploy options for Pikapods, running at USD$2/month.

Their website even has a comparison page for Listmonk: https://www.notifuse.com/compare/notifuse-vs-listmonk/
