(Not enough mental energy / spoons for a full write-up, but we're doing a thoughtdump to get this out of our mind, and possibly return to it another time.)

The Nightmare Before Christmas is a queer, neurospicy, and possibly trans+ allegory.

• Christmas is a confusing neurotypical, cis het holiday.
• Hallowe'en is a quirk, neurospicy, queer and trans+ holiday.
• Jack comes across like neurospicy (likely AuDHD) theatre kid, who's burnt out and maybe hasn't yet realised they're trans+.
  • Jack recharges by being alone (so likely not solely ADHD).
  • Jack feels out of place, even among other neurodivergent peers (possibly other queer and/or ADHD theatre folk).
  • Jack can't explain what they're feeling (alexithymia).
  • Jack's Lament highlights their depression, malaise, and struggles (including arguably around gender).
• Jack latches on to the idea of Christmas and wants to be like that for themselves.
  • Jack thinks this will make them happy (What's This? song).
  • Jack doesn't understand it, but tries to do it regardless (Jack's Obsession song).
  • It's basically Jack trying to be something they're not (cis het neurotypical).
• Sally represents Jack's trans+ fem self.
  • Jack ignores Sally, despite the many signs she keeps giving him, and doesn't understand her fears over the venture.
  • Sally's not sure that Jack will ever listen to her (Sally's Song).
• Jack eventually crashes (literally and figuratively), realising how foolish and damaging their actions were.
  • Trying to be someone else made them realise how important it was to be themselves, and how much fun that can be if they embrace it (Poor Jack).
• Jack's true happiness comes when they realise that Sally had been right all along and that they should have listened to her.
  • By accepting Sally, Jack becomes complete (Finale / Reprise).
  • It reminds us of how Neo's love for Trinity in The Matrix is an allegory for Neo accepting that they're trans (self-acceptance; self-love).

These are very raw thoughts, but needed to get them out before our mind imploded under the weight 😅

• Write something about the adaptation of Paris Lees' What It Feels Like For A Girl.
  • How painful certain parts of it feel when they hit a nerve.
  • How othered we feel from the experiences of trans people who recognised, accepted, and embraced their queerness young, engaged in queer party culture, and then realised they were trans.
• Try to do a trans voice Friday recording again, even if it ends up being another rant about voice training and dysphoria.
• Update folks on NHS gender clinic, complaint, and IFR stuff.
  • Also provide update on GP, IFR, and VFS.
• Possibly make a trans meme from a bit from a recent Doctor Who episode.
• Possibly discuss job hunting and benefit shite.

We've come to a mixed realisation   

A lot of folks taking gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT):

• have a lot of misconceptions about it.
• have the misguided belief that their gender-affirming care provider should be trusted unquestioning to know what's best for them.
• don't know that there are different types of GAHT or that they have a choice in the type.

We know that we can write PSA posts here without issue to dispel myths and spread information, but if we want to reach a wider audience, we are pretty much gonna need to turn it into full articles and video content 🤔

However, the moment we do that, we're going to need to start being even more cautious about what we write or say, especially as:

• We don't want anti-trans people to become aware of certain resources.
• We may end up breaching terms and conditions of places like YouTube and Twitch.
• We may put ourselves at risk of breaking UK laws... or being treated as if we have, even if we haven't.
• We may end up risking crossing the streams between our work-profile and our online alias, which could increase the risk of being doxed or essentially becoming "persona non occupabile".

There's also the issue of us being a neurospicy disaster with unreliable executive function, who struggles with committing to any long-term projects... or even doing basic tasks sometimes 🥺🤦‍♀️
