Flipping through the quickstart of the new edition of #TunnelsAndTrolls that Rebellion Unplugged is #crowdfunding.

Its just so weird that they bought #FlyingBuffalo and this game... just to make a new edition with zero DNA, with the prior game, outside the name.

Especially since for the first 7-8 editions of the game. Felt like one unbroken continuity. The game has been backwards compatible since it released in the 70s.

New unrelated setting, new tone, new mechanics. Even the spell names were tossed.

Seems like they would have endeared folks, if they had at least hired a few old artists like Liz Danforth, or new folks who could have gelled with that old style, to at least create visual continuity with the older editions.

AT the same time Ken St Andre, who created the game has really calcified in his old age, and is embracing AI slop on all of his new projects. I dont know a traditional new edition from him would have thrilled me.

This weekend was supposed to be the weekend we restart our hombrew #BasicRoleplaying campaign, after the holiday. BUT im about to be slappened with plan altering winter weather a second time. ( We rarely get more than a dusting of snow out here, so inches of snow or more shuts down everything and makes a lot impassable. )

Atleast the Call of Cthulhu campaign dodged two freak winter storms. #ttrpg #NotDnD

Been kicking the tires on #Drawsteel via an online webcam game. AND its a serviceable system, and im going to tough it out through this mini campaign I think. BUT the system isn't for me per se. It's well constructed but not to my tastes.

I keep coming back to the fact that im tracking waaaay too many meta currencies in combat AND It's also feels very much like a "combat first and often" system, and im a combat-light guy. #ttrpg #NotDnD but kinda #DungeonsAndDragons

Ran my first session of Draw Steel, using the Delian Tomb intro adventure. I sense a lot of the D&D 4E DNA in this game, which is what I am looking for. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, and I am looking forward to our next session.

Very fun #CallOfCthulhu game. Started off with our investigators meeting up with a spirtualist con artist who was freaked out one her seances had worked.

Ended with them stealing an "Odic Energy Regulator" from Arkham University, after realizing all this poltergeist activity was kinda centered on it.

Now they just have to figure out what the hell to do with it. ( Turning it off, smashing it or letting it keep running are all bad ideas in very different ways...)
