I've already expressed this feeling on Bluesky but I personally like atproto more than I do activitypub. I've always felt Fediverse platforms, main offender Mastodon, don't actually do anything to encourage decentralization, and actually kinda discourage it by having little annoyances such as having to open the post on the original website to view all replies reliably, which especially on mobile where I prefer using a dedicated app can be a bother.

Lemmy and Piefed seem to do much better in that regard tho, so it seems to mostly come down to implementation, but either way my account still isn't really able to be used on all instances, and it can't properly be moved between them either (something Nostr can do afaik tho)

Atproto *is* more complicated, but I also can't think of a way to do all the things it does *without* being complicated

I'd be happy talk to someone more knowledgeable of either though!

I recently discovered that selling Printful merch via Etsy is SUPER easy, TOO easy. Not happy with the cut that Etsy takes (among other things). This is not the route I want to go - I really want my own store. So what should I do? Other options?

Friendly reminder: It's easy to forget there are many more people in the world that write code and are *not developers* than there are professional software developers. Scientists, journalists, lawyers, activists, med. doctors, writers, educators, artists, designers, and many others, can create computer programs!

This paper from 2012 shows an 2005 estimate (for 2012) that there are almost 4x more people programming ("end user programmers") than professional programmers https://dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/2212776.2212421

#IRecentlyGrumbled about struggling with the TreeView stuff but wait, TreeViews are deprecated as of #Gtk 4.10 so I tried to get my head around GListModel and ColumnView and I can report a small success as I have managed to create an example working.

I found myself in the 11th hour yesterday kludging together an #agate container using an alpine base image with glibc shoehorned in, because the precompiled agate binary doesn't run at all against musl c.

Now that it's a new day, I'm thinking about rolling up sleeves and learning how to use build containers to make a proper agate binary to run in a real #alpine base image to cut my image size in half.

I can figure it out, but a handy primer would be appreciated.🤗
