I closed my Threads account recently, and just today closed my Instagram account. It felt both good and slightly weird, though I never used either all that much.

I have also stopped following anyone on Bluesky, in preparation for closing that too. Facebook will probably not go away for a long time, but I have pared back my footprint there significantly too.

For years I have barely opened my accounts on big tech social media while I haven't closed them either.
I am starting to figure out a more active approach to fight the dependence on these harmful platforms that is caused by the #networkEffect.
