New Castle County is the largest county in Delaware, USA, covering approximately 505 square miles (1,308 km²). It is situated in the northeastern part of the state, bordering Pennsylvania to the north and west, and Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, to the northwest. The county's name originates from William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania, who was also a Quaker and a prominent figure in Delaware's early history.
