@MikaKpk Granted, those also exist, but there are like Huawei & ZTE "LTE CPE" devices that do the same.

  • Try that search term...

Even #AldiTalk in #Germany sells those for like €100 with a free Data-only SIM but they don't seem to have #NetLock / #SimLock and you xan, just ditch the included SIM fir your own...

  • Those too also have an analog POTS/PSTN port.

If you need more than one SIM / Line connected over #4G / #LTE then you propably need to buy one of those bigger boxes or DIY something with #Asterisk and some 4G FXO cards...

@jbhall56 meanwhile in #Germany no provider is doing #NetLock or #SimLock because #consumers refuse to buy devices they fucked with!

@vfrmedia granted #Japan is 50 years into the future and 50 years in the past at the same time!

So you get stuff like the #Keitai which are fucking awesome until they fall flat on their face due to #SIMlock (or rather #NetLock) and they hyper-#localization for the #JDM...

I bought a Keitai 携帯 so you don't have to

@gabrielesvelto @Mozilla @mozilla_support @fuchsiii yes, and #Mozilla deciding to fragment #FirefoxOS more by basically letting #MNO / #MVNO run the #AppStores instead of having a reference one made it worse than the chinese domestic market cuz at leadt there one can just get an agent to enshure one's apps are in all #Android AppStores there...

  • It really felt like a regression in a time when even #prepaid providers in #Germany stopped #NetLock|ing & #SimLock|ing devices and #ALDItalk was the established prepaid leader with a €2,99 flat between it's clients.

@gabrielesvelto I still remember #FirefoxOS and I'm still mad at @Mozilla / @mozilla_support / #Mozilla for self-sabotaging because neither me nor @fuchsiii nor anyone else I knew who did #WebDev / #AppDev / #MobileDev could even buy a device.

  • The only device that I was aware of launched in the #EU was a #SimLock'd & #NetLock'd #prepaid phone in #Spain which wouldn't sell it to us since they demanded #KYC with a spanish residency address.

I mean it's cool that one could just use #Firefox as #Emulator but no #mobile #OperatingSystem will have any chance of market attraction if one cannot buy the bloody thing!

  • Same like #OpenMoko: I'd love to get a #Neo1973 but none of the phone and electronic stores had it (and back then I was under 16 so I couldn't just make an account at an online shop)…

@ohno_itsnate Granted, the #USA is a garbage market in terms of devices and networks, way worse than #Germany was in the 1990s cuz even then #NetLock & #SimLock was so unpopular that no #postpaid #customer accepted those and even in #prepaid with subsidized handsets they got basically boycotted out of the market in the early 2000s.

I do acknowledge that @GrapheneOS has valid reasons why they keep few devices supported (tho granted it's up to #vendors to up their game - their demands ain't absurd nor unfulfillable!)...

@netopwibby OFC #FirefoxOS would've been a success if people exited about it (like me) and #developers (like @fuchsiii) were ever abke to legally obtain any device with FirefoxOS on it.

IMHO, @Mozilla / #Mozilla cannot be trusted at all!

2 #CertificateAuthorities booted from the good graces of #Chrome

#Google says its Chrome browser will stop trusting certificates from two certificate authorities after “patterns of concerning behavior observed over the past year” diminished trust in their reliability.

The 2 orgs, #Taiwan -based #ChunghwaTelecom & #Budapest -based #Netlock , are among the hundreds of cert auth trusted by Chrome & most other #browsers to provide digital certificates that #encrypt traffic

I’m trying to check if an old phone running #LineageOS in the US is network locked. It currently doesn’t have a SIM card in it, but I could put in inactive SIM in it if that would help.

I tried several online IMEI checkers. Besides being covered in ads, none of them showed the lock status.

Suggestions? Thanks!
