That’s disappointing
The Nationals leader David Littleproud has stared down an attempt to throw him out of the top job. It's set up eleventh hour talks with Liberal leader Sussan Ley tonight on the eve of the next parliamentary sittings and there's no certainty over whether they will find common ground.

Colin Boyce said he'll challenge David Littleproud to be leader of the National Party. Despite the bluster from unnamed Littleproud loyalists, this isn't about whether or not Colin Boyce has the numbers. It's an indication of loss of faith in David Littleproud. It's a rejection of David Littleproud's personal mission to (a) drive-out the last representation of farmers and other rural voters from the National Party and (b) further the National Party's embrace of extreme-rightwing ideology.
In my opinion, David Littleproud has decided the National Party can afford to lose a bunch of rural votes because he thinks the party can steal more Nazi votes away from One Nation. I think he's playing an appallingly stupid and dangerous tactical game, and if he keeps going he'll lose to Pauline Hanson and Banarnaby Joyce. To make matters worse, along the way, he'll destroy the National Party. On that basis, Colin Boyce is doing what's right for the Nationals.
