It's popcorn time as Barnaby Rubble (One Nation) faces off against his former chief of staff Matt 'Coalface' Canavan (new Nationals leader). Both can talk the hind leg off a conspiracy theory but only the white-collar professional Matt Canavan can successfully cosplay as a blue-collar coal miner. Interesting that they both believe much the same things but are necessarily pitched as mortal enemies, now ON's rise in the polls threatens the very existence of the Nats. #auspol #OneNation #LNP

#Australians do not want to get dragged into #Trump and #Netanyahu's #illegalwar on #Iran, which is spiralling out of control.

We are all watching this, wondering, when will this end? We cannot bomb our way to peace. Violence leads to more violence & it's always civilians who suffer most.

As a party of peace & non-violence, the #Greens believe #Australia should be encouraging #dialogue and #diplomacy.

#Labor should be urging for #peace -- not joining with the #Liberals and #OneNation to follow Trump into another #foreverwar.

It may feel tricky to feel hopeful right now but as the world feels rough, it's more important than ever to connect with community and our common humanity.

The Greens will continue to call for peace and call on Labor to immediately rule out further Australian support for this illegal US-Israel war, end #AUKUS and close #PineGap. #auspol

Emotional David Littleproud steps down as leader of the National Party

David Littleproud has quit as leader of the National Party of Australia.

In recent months, David Littleproud's notable leadership achievements include:
- Breaking-up the decades-long Coalition between the Nationals and the Liberals multiple times in a matter of months.
- Coming close to destroying the LNP / Coalition with the contrarily-named Liberal Party of Australia, and securing its position of irrelevancy for the next election.
- Coming close to destroying the National Party, and securing their position of irrelevancy for the next election.
- Failing to swing the Coalition so far to the right that it adopts his personal Neo-Nazi policies.
- Giving airtime to Neo-Nazi policies, such as those espoused by One Nation, thereby doing nothing to help the Nationals but drastically improving One Nation's polling for the next election.
- Shafting prior, long-standing leader of the National Party, Bananaby Joyce, so nastily that he quit the Nationals and sucked-up to Pauline Hanson to join One Nation.
- Shafting leader of the Liberal Party, Susssan Ley, so nastily that she lost a spill for her party's leadership position to Angus Taylor, and then quit politics altogether.

That's quite a list of achievements by David Littleproud! Little wonder that he proclaimed, "I'm buggered, I've had enough," at today's press conference.
