$58b in funding on a $300b valuation, and he's saying he's going to spend trillions of dollars. That's some spectacular maths, must have used GPT5 for that one (badoom tish).

For real though this guy looks in desperate need of some sort of intervention.

Attached: 1 image In which Sam Altman admits his plans for steering OpenAI through what he admits is an AI hype bubble around LLMs, depend on the invention of a not-yet-specifiable magic perpetual money-creating machine, that will somehow manifest trillions-with-a-tr worth of data center construction, apparently running on pure techbro genius Even in these times of continuous onslaught of bullshit, I have never seen such bullshit as this https://www.wired.com/story/sam-altman-says-chatgpt-is-on-track-to-out-talk-humanity/

Any New South Wales or ACT ski folks out there?

I booked a couple of nights at the Kosciuszko Tourist Park right up near Perisher for Friday/Sat 29th and 30th August

My daughter's football grand final has been postponed a week due to the heavy rain in Sydney, so now we can't go.

They don't do cancellation, so if you'd like to have a weekend right up near the snow for let's say $400, drop me a line and I'm happy to transfer that to you.

Feel free to pass it on

➕➕➕ I know this because I went out to get a beef pie from Freda's, and youguise, ermagherd, holy crap, so good 🥧

I will need to have a few more for research purposes to decide where they rank on the beef pie scale, which does of course go from one to Bourke Street Bakery.

What's the longest place name in Australia?

What's the longest personal name ever used?

What's the best text to use to try out a font?

What's a pangram?

I cover them all in my latest post! The most ridiculous test data I use to stress test designs and web implementations:

Break designs by stuffing them with test data and mock images so you can build more resilient websites.

Meetup(.com) really need to get on top of the spam. It's really cutting through in all the wrong ways.

Hello! Please boost #fedihired #getfedihired

I'm looking for a Test Lead type role in Sydney or broader AU (if remote). About me:
- I have 15 years of experience in QA, with 10 years as a leader and coach.
- I'm a generalist who knows stuff about front end, mobile, APIs, data, and many content management systems.
- I've started up QA departments at many companies.
- I'm not an automation developer, but I know best practices and can advise on testing infrastructure.
- I've helped with the rollout of Agile methodology and I'm happy to renew my Scrum Master cert if it helps.
- I have a ISTQB Advanced Test Manager cert.

What I'd prefer:
- If the role is in Sydney, I'd like something hybrid near the CBD or in Western Sydney. If it's anywhere else in AU or NZ, I'm happy to work remotely.
- Full or part-time is fine.
- Ideally the role would be perm or a long term contract.

Frontend devs. Sweeties. Let's talk.

Do you remember the Web in the 90s? I do. My computer today has more RAM than my computer in the 90s had hard disk. My cable modem today can download that amount of data several times over every second.

The web today feels as slow today as it did in the 90s. On a 56k modem.

It's not your fault. I get it. Business demands, shifting frameworks. But engineer to engineer here, I'm really gonna need you to start telling them no. It's getting embarrassing.

Let's all be honest with ourselves for a moment. The thing that 99% of computer users want is something that *looks* like Windows 7 or XP (or Mac equivalent) and that *never changes*. Nobody cares or wants to know what happens under the hood, they just want to Do Computer and they want to do it in a way that is comfortable and *doesn't fucking change all the time*

LLM vendors arguing that it would be hard for them to compensate people for the copyright material they used to secure billions in funding... I think sympathy levels will be extremely low.
