We are used to see the
#NASAHubble images in color, processed, well framed and they are amazing.
But I also love the calibrated images that have no color, no reframe, no derotation, no fancy effect. This image is from the OPAL program in 2018 (https://archive.stsci.edu/hlsp/opal)

I had an opportunity to give two science talks at #shoreleave43 this last weekend, for enthusiastic audiences to learn about #nasahubble's first 1/3 of a century and to join me on a tour of the #HST Telescope Operations Center at NASA-GSFC. A great Con all-around with an excellent and varied Science Track! #shoreleave #Hubble

The dark side of Saturn's rings (1996) - imaged by the Hubble Space Telescope

The main rings are illuminated by reflected saturnshine and by sunlight diffusely transmitted through the translucent C ring and Cassini division.

The colliding spiral galaxies of #arp274 🌀
The triplet was the perfect subject for an experiment with a bigger format than my usual.
