Ham radio operator in Texas. Love getting on SSB / FT4 / FT8. On #C4FM / #WiresX at Texas-SADRC. See my QRZ page for more. Often, I'm operating #HF from the NU5DE club station in McDade.
I also enjoy flying UAVs (Drones) recreationally. Aside from the obvious scenic photography uses, they are also quite handy for tower and antenna inspections!

We've been working Field Day today and have been having lots of fun! All on SSB phone on 40m and 20m thus far. Lots of familiar callsigns we've worked in the past!
The relocated 80ft tower at #NU5DE.
This replaced the 40ft tower, which served us for many years.
Working some FT4 on 10 meters today. Bands are hoppin'!
80' Tower relocation project Phase 1 nearly done! Still need to source some Heliax connectors to connect the repeater's antenna. The tri-band beam is working perfectly now and the rotator is working. The rotator cable needs to be re-terminated. Adding it to the list. :)
Worked about 130 phone contacts @nu5de today, mostly on 10m. It was the ARRL International Phone DX Contest, so it was great to be able to get my DX chops back and experience the pileups :). I did have a great time! Bob says he'll be picking it up where I left off! -- de Ben, NI5B

This is the official Mastodon site for the Naturist Amateur Radio Club, NU5DE. We have been on the air a while (>25 years) and over that time, we've been based at Star Ranch in McDade, TX.
You'll find us on the air frequently, primarily on HF working contests and conducting special events, as well as on 2m and 70cm. We participate in the C4FM Wires-X room Texas-SADRC, https://www.sadrc.net.
