What I’m saying is that NT psych hasn’t integrated evolution and it’s not really up to you to “forgive,” a negative selective pressure. You are protecting some internal business, and your family’s reputation by forgiving your caregivers’ abuse, but you’re not going to be a better person for it and your kids will probably be worse, because of evolution and the environments for children that you create and forgive and allow to continue.

I assume they hate it and they hate me. I get it. 😳💜

They’ve found a way to integrate and process their abuse, they’re empathetic about their parents, did the best they could and all that - and I’m taking all that away, peeling off the scab and exposing the wound, I’m asking them to re-feel and reprocess, to start all over again.

To focus on their parents’ errors rather than their stated intentions, basically I’m talking shit about their Mom, I do get it, and I’m sorry. I’m trying to think critically about the rule about that, but that’s breaking it, right?

my idea is that they say they don’t like evolution because of the past, they don’t want to think of themselves as the offspring of apes - but of course it’s really about the present and the future, they don’t want to know that it’s them making the broken, futureless human nature, they don’t want to break cycles and have to absorb the abuse of their childhood and never “get their power back” (Alice Miller’s language) from their children.

My . . . thorough acceptance of evolution tells me that’s exacty what they have to do, but I haven’t been able to convince one of them, let alone all of them. They seem to think they have the freedom to believe whatever they want.
