(there's a known face on this, grant williamson, but I can't for the life of me remember his handle here!)
Killing time until the ARCA race with IHRA Spring Nationals qualifying, IHRA puts all their stuff on YouTube so I've started regularly trying to catch some of their events like the drag racing and their new stock car late model series. Some NHRA vets like Del Worsham and Terry Haddock are here. Haddock just slammed into the wall pretty hard in a funny car, during his time in the NHRA he spent time in both top fuel and funny car, sometimes in the same weekend.
This 1993 #NHRA race I've been watching on the last few days has a bunch of Oldsmobiles in it, Funny Car, Top Fuel, and Pro Stock. I never knew they had poured so much into drag racing, but this is the year they left NASCAR and their Indycar involvement wouldn't start for another 4 years or so, so it makes sense they'd move those resources somewhere.
Watching an NHRA race from 1993 and astounded by the fact most of these Top Fuel and Funny Cars are running sub-300MPH, when they can get up to 340 in the right conditions now, and also that a big chunk of the field are Oldsmobiles!!!!
