All of Sherlock Holmes came home to the public domain last year. We also got "Ol' Man River," "Puttin' On the Ritz" and "Mississippi Mud."

What we didn't get 2023? Sound recordings. The #MusicModernizationAct froze all sound recordings in copyright until 2024 - that is, until 11 days hence.

Those old #78RPM recordings exist in an odd superposition. On the one hand, they have real cultural value and bring great joy to many listeners.
