@david I hope everyone at #MoffittCancerCenter is safe? It must be in the evacuation zone since #Hurricane Milton will pass right through #Tampa

Hurricane Milton makes landfall in Florida as Category 3 storm

Hurricane Milton has crashed into Florida as a Category 3 storm, pounding the coast with ferocious winds of over 100 mph, knocking out power to millions and producing a series of tornadoes around the state. Milton made landfall Wednesday night near Siesta Key. The prosperous strip of white-sand beaches is south of Tampa, which was spared a direct hit. Milton is bringing powerful winds, deadly storm surge and flooding along much of Florida’s Gulf Coast. It was expected to remain a hurricane as it crosses the Florida Peninsula on Thursday before emerging in the Atlantic Ocean.

Quantitative #GroundRounds at #MoffittCancerCenter with Kristin Swanson (Mayo Clinic) talking about sex differences in #Glioblastoma and ways to study it with #MathOnco and #machine_learning

Kristin is complementing her Machine Learning approach with knowledge that constraints the training of the network, something that makes a lot of sense since in clinical oncology there is not such thing as #BigData

What a tour de force by Yale's Jeffrey Townsend for this #GroundRounds at #MoffittCancerCenter where he questions, redefines, refines and measures driver and passanger mutations in #cancer #evolution
Inspiring presentation at #MoffittCancerCenter today by Baylor's Susan M. Rosenberg talking about #cancerEvolution BUT looking at something less common: the DNA damageone and how extrinsic elements change a tumor cell's mutation rate and thus key features of somatic evolution. Of note, Rosenberg shows data of how we can (not yet in cancer) reduce mutation rates resulting from treatment

Excellent episode of Cancer in our community between my #MoffittCancerCenter colleagues Kosj Yamoah and Brandon Blue discussing aspects of #prostateCancer from the clinical and patient side of the table (whereas I usually just learn the research side). Produced and edited by the one and only @pbiwan

Cancer in our Community: Dr. Kosj Yamoah & Mr. Lansing Scriven - A PSA about your PSA

Welcome to Cancer in our Community, where we're having conversations about Black health equity. Getting a cancer diagnosis is never easy, even with a family history. This is the story of our guest Lanse Scriven, who found himself receiving news that he had prostate cancer. From diagnosis, through treatment, to annual check ups, Lanse has had the support of Dr. Kosj Yamoah - a radiation oncologist at Moffitt Cancer Center. In addition to treating his patients, Kosj has a research focus on the biologic factors that predispose African American men to higher prostate cancer incidence and mortality.  Join us to find out more about the importance of PSA’s, knowing your body and asking all those difficult questions.  Learn more about our guests and their work: Learn more about our host . The Reason Why Cancer is so Hard to Beat

Some laughs and even some tears in today's presentation by my friend and collaborator @conorlynch but mostly amazing science and an excellent vision for his department of #Metastasis at the #MoffittCancerCenter. Really excited to see where he takes this in the next few years!

Privileged to introduce today #Cancer #Biology and #Evolution speaker at #MoffittCancerCenter, Rafael Bravo (in @sandy's group) describing his PhD work which I am hoping to read soon in the shape of a thesis
