The Mack Walks

Loving the pieces coming together as I work through Uncle Jim's archive. Today, it is my gt x 3 uncle, 'Auld Cairnie' William Shirer, who died age 79 in 1906 of senile decay and exhaustion. He died single, but with a daughter Annie, who might pop up in a post soon.

Today's raid on Uncle Jim's family records shows Granny & Granda Manson (the elderly couple in the images) of Durie, Clola, by Mintlaw. Granny Manson was sister to Jean Robertson, my maternal grandmother's mum. They brought up my grandmother, and later her first child Alexander Robertson. The children in the photo are my mum & 3 of her sisters. She was born in '42, so this must have been taken around the late 40s or early 50s.
