Highways nationwide will go toll-free for two days this coming Christmas weekend. The implementation will cost the government RM 21 million per day.

What would a 21st century Ministry of Works look like? Like the old MoW, it could be involved in long term planning of infrastructure building and maintenance, and hiring/ training the workforce needed to make it happen.

But it could also be involved in planning and carrying out managed retreat, ecological restoration, resilience building (eg mass planting on coastlines to reduce erosion and provide tsunami mitigation), etc.
