Went to a lovely used book store today and came away with this literary classic

I have just started reading "this charming piece of impertinence" published by Dean Street Press (do check them out!)
and reading that phrase from Angela Thirkell's review of "Fanfare for Tin Trumpets" I was struck by how well it describes ALL the Sharp novels I've read (and loved) so far. A promising augury, I hope.
