Wonder why such a title should occur to me today, an American in 2025? Image is from 4 years ago and I was happy to revisit the file like a treasure in my chest of goodies I can pull out to work with when I have the time and the right mood. From Miami Arizona where there are more than a few such buildings downtown. Mining had a big slump for many many years but if the Supreme Court sides with the corporations and Big $ and Big Donors, then many small hills and mountains will be blown up between Superior and Miami for the Resolution Copper Mines. Sigh. And then suddenly Miami will be able to sell and develop for businesses but it be costly for residents and Native Americans who are not big investors and don't have political influence. #Wood #Weathered #Decay #Miami #Arizona #MiamiArizona #MyPhoto
Ah, time to share a photo I have appreciated capturing, even though it is now 4 years ago and never before edited. I suppose we can call it for #FensterFreitag because there is a busted window for the windshield of this car which looks to be a massive restoration project. Does anyone know the model of it? I am guessing European. #Auto #Restoration #MiamiArizona #Arizona

I thought "Oh this is a really pretty pigeon!" Seen at the ruins of a downtown building in Miami Arizona four years ago right about now. I even thought it would be so much nicer if a bird like this was hanging out around our house instead of the boring old gray birds who are most insistent on laying eggs right by the front door, despite the $40 "bird spikes" my son thought would work to deter them. In the process of looking up a bird ID, I first came upon "Rock dove," and ooh, that sounded great to me. But alas, turns out the majority of sources just ID it as a rock pigeon, one of the most common birds in North America. #Bird #Pigeon #MiamiArizona

PS. These birds are really LOUD and the bass coo sounds resonate so you can't ignore them with your house shut up.

#Copper and Gold #Mining, and #Coal-Fired Power Plants, Resulted in Cancer for Navajo, Apache, and Western #Shoshone

By Brenda Norrell, Censored News, September 4, 2023

"A copper smelter poisoning the air of Apaches, the coal-fired power plants on the #NavajoNation, and gold mining on Western Shoshone land, are among the top causes of cancer from #AirPollution in the United States, according to a new report, Poison in the Air, by #ProPublica.

"The #FreeportMcMoran copper smelter in #MiamiArizona -- located between the #SanCarlos #ApacheNation, and Apaches Sacred #OakFlat -- is the third in the United States for producing toxic air pollution causing cancer. The poison air means the central Arizona community of Miami has ten times the EPA's acceptable risk of cancer. Apaches are now in federal court battling both the mining industry, and the #BidenAdministration to stop another #CopperMine nearby at Oak Flat which would destroy their ceremonial place."
