Our syllabi, classrooms, bibliographies, labs, thesis committees, libraries, conference panels, monographs are riddled with survivor-shaped gaps.
How much knowledge have we lost to rape culture and abuse?
@wrigleyfield @academicchatter You might be interested in the Societies Consortium Ethical Transparency Tool: https://societiesconsortium.com/ett/ : it's a way of passing findings between entities. It's still in pilot mode, but has been through review by lawyers.
Anyone have a list of universities that now ask in faculty hires some version of:
"Have you ever been found responsible for sexual misconduct by a uni or professional association; are you currently under investigation; or have you left a job while under investigation?"
...or any articles about this practice?
I'm asking bc my department is hiring and our university won't let us ask this, and we'd like context as we argue with them about it

To be honest, I’m ambivalent about sharing this link. Recently I learned that workers at the Smithsonian have been subjected to toxic working conditions. When I offered to pull the piece, they graciously refused. I hope they know I’m ready to pull the piece in solidarity.
