These Chinese scholars, led by Jingcheng Wang, with Ruth Mace also involved, very appropriately reference this article by our own Chris Knight
'Early human kinship was matrilineal'.
In this rollicking read, he tells the story of Boas, Radcliffe-Brown & Malinowski censoring the #matriliny debates on #evolution, and really fiddling the books. So #aDNA can put the record straight!

We have more chapters coming late this year or early next in a wonderful volume of 'Gendered implications of Matriliny in Africa'.

#Matriliny in Neolithic E #China over 4500 years ago among millet farmers on the coast, with dual organisation of matrilineal clans.

'Fujia inhabitants engaged in millet-based farming and animal husbandry, with probable access to marine and/or freshwater resources.'
Pigs, not large livestock...were LH Morgan and Engels right on matrilineal priority then?

Ancient DNA reveals a two-clanned matrilineal community in Neolithic China - Nature

Analysis of ancient DNA, stable isotope data and archaeological evidence from the Fujia archaeological site in eastern China suggests it was populated by a matrilineal Neolithic community between 2750 and 2500 bc.

From #Durotriges account on blue sky:

"Hiding in plain sight: the Neolithic statue-menhir of St Marie de Castel #Guernsey

Discovered beneath the church in 1878, this megalithic goddess now keeps watch over the cemetery, her shape echoed in those of later tombstones"

The shape shows her breasts, the left #breast still intact, the other flaked away
