🚨 Runon alert! 🚨 It’s a bummer to be on a Mastodon instance that’s shutting down but also pretty amazing to find a welcoming community elsewhere, and later see all of the folks you got to know on the old instance find new spots all over the place. Such an interesting experience. Kind of like… Graduation?
ALSO: Seems a decent portion of the vmst.io refugees went the self-hosted route which is super cool. IFL the fedi. If this was some other SM, we’d all be SOL.

Well it looks as if I am going to have to build up my following on this account back up from the 1.4k that I had on my @beardedtechguy account. It looks like they are just not migrating over for some reason. 😭
If you are looking for a nicer and possibly quieter side to Mastodon. You can always migrate to cupoftea.social like alot of people have in the last few days.
I keep a close eye on things as admin and always keep things as upto date as possible.
Its the mastodon equivalent of sitting by an open fire with a drink for your mental health.

@aronkvh It's discouraging to see some media people correctly identify the "junk food diet" of social media, faster and faster shitstorms and addictive timelines modelled after slot machines as the scourge of the modern internet... and then complain that the Fediverse is boring and "we need starter packs STAT! because people can't be asked to click a hashtag or the federated timeline and there are no influencers on Mastodon"
