Takoma-to-DC Walk for No Kings...
Takoma-to-DC Walk for No Kings · Mobilize

I will be walking from Takoma / Park to the Mall and Washington Monument on the morning of Saturday, March 28. All are welcome to join me in this peaceful and positive protest. The intent of the walk is to demonstrate our displeasure with the Trump administration and bring positive energy to our community. I hope to create new connections with people from Takoma, Takoma Park, and neighborhoods in DC that are tired of this fascist federal government and looking for ways to strengthen local democracy. The initial meet-up will be at the Takoma Park-Silver Spring Food Co-op at 201 Ethan Allen Ave in Takoma Park at 8-8:30am. Feel free to just join and talk about politics even if you don't plan to walk. I will start walking at about 8:30am. Check out the [approximate route](https://maps.app.goo.gl/2qXfpUL7idcSFQXV9). This is roughly an 8-mile, 3-hour walk. I plan to go at a steady pace and take breaks to talk with people and rest when needed. See the [basic itinerary](https://robertbeets.com/posts/takoma-to-dc-walk-for-no-kings/) and schedule for stops along the way. I anticipate getting to the Mall around 12pm. It’s a long walk, so feel free to join for just the beginning or alternatively meet up along the way at a Metro stop — the route is close to the Columbia Heights, U Street, and McPherson Square stops. The weather looks relatively modest, but please bring everything you need to be self-sufficient. My name is Robert Beets. I am a resident of Takoma Park. This activity is not being planned with any organization — just neighbors and allies coming together. People of all ages, races, genders, and pro-democracy political ideologies are welcome. See the [event page](https://robertbeets.com/posts/takoma-to-dc-walk-for-no-kings/) on my website for details and contact information. Use the sign-up form if you'd like to get emails. A walk isn’t going to fix the world, but we’re all we’ve got and I’d like to meet more people from my community that are interested in going the extra mile for democracy. *A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.*

@europesays Kind of interesting, I didn't know refueling involved so many people.

I gotta ask... why is this European outlet reporting on a Calvert County Marriott being jazzed about electricians booking all the rooms?
