I will be walking from Takoma / Park to the Mall and Washington Monument on the morning of Saturday, March 28. All are welcome to join me in this peaceful and positive protest. The intent of the walk is to demonstrate our displeasure with the Trump administration and bring positive energy to our community. I hope to create new connections with people from Takoma, Takoma Park, and neighborhoods in DC that are tired of this fascist federal government and looking for ways to strengthen local democracy. The initial meet-up will be at the Takoma Park-Silver Spring Food Co-op at 201 Ethan Allen Ave in Takoma Park at 8-8:30am. Feel free to just join and talk about politics even if you don't plan to walk. I will start walking at about 8:30am. Check out the [approximate route](https://maps.app.goo.gl/2qXfpUL7idcSFQXV9). This is roughly an 8-mile, 3-hour walk. I plan to go at a steady pace and take breaks to talk with people and rest when needed. Itâs a long walk, so feel free to join for just the beginning or alternatively meet up along the way at a Metro stop â the route is close to the Columbia Heights, U Street, and McPherson Square stops. NO KINGS ### This permitted rally will feature: -Speakers from the Oklahoma ACLU, Oklahoma Policy Institute, The Oklahoma Poor Peopleâs Campaign, immigration attorney Lorena Rivas, and others will present topics of current concern. In addition, OKC activist, humorous raconteur, and Irish pub owner Sean Cummings, will present views on the separation of church and state, with emphasis on the Christian Beatitudes. Issues such as transgender rights, community response to immigrant raids, the effect of the Big âBeautifulâ Bill on vulnerable populations, local and national surveillance of citizens, gutting the federal workforce, state legislative issues, and the Oklahoma Epstein connection will be presented. High school students who participated in the three-school walkout on Feb. 13 will also share their experiences. In addition, moments of joyful resistance will take place in the form of music from the Lawton band Lennon, with an audience sing-along and call-and-response chants. There will also be information tables and voter registration applications. All are welcome, and safety marshals will ensure compliance with non-violence protocols. Organizers say, âCome with an open mind to learn and listen. Then decide what action you want to take to bring about justice.â No Kings is a nationwide movement supporting the Constitutional checks and balances meant to keep a president from acting like an authoritarian king. ### MORE!
