The parents and the problem. Parenting seems exhausting.  On the first photo the male, called Aaron, is on the left I think. The rather flat one. On the second he's the one standing.

The little one had free roam around the place while they looked very tired and slightly annoyed by a giant pile of visitors. We hit the 15 minutes of fame until they vanished again.

Seems the little one is still doing well, should be 55 days old now. Would have expected the parents to be a bit more interested in what she was doing but they just wanted to enjoy the sun. Hopefully one day the little one will be more brave and come to the front. This is further away and worse lighting than the lens can manage.

I found tiny leggies! Well one.

Yeah, she is missing her tail. How it happened is a mystery. I have talked to a keeper there I know a tiny bit. She is 54 days old now. Their guess is that a mixture of being really young and very inexperienced parents lead to that accident. It wasn’t chewed off from stress or anything but both are first time parents and the father has absolutely no idea what to do with the little thing. Nor how to carry it. You could say a cliche dad. :p

But there weren’t any complications or infections so she’s doing well for now and already out for adventure while her parents are very much asleep.

One downside he told me is rather unexpected, at least for me. They need to find another zoo to take her as leggies don’t tolerate them much after a year. But it’s apparently hard to find zoos willing to take such animals. At worst they’d need to keep her in a separated enclosure that doesn’t exist yet. Hm, maybe I should ask if I can have a leggy. Still looks illegally cute to me.

I went there again on another time of the day but, no luck. Yeah well he did show himself. Peeked out of their luxury den, "uh, nope" and went back inside. So these are from yesterday as well.

I feel someone overdid it with the leg lengths and they seem awfully complicated to fold for sitting down. On the plus side, they have independently configurable radar dishes… ears. I wonder how that will feel if you can track the source of a sound with ears like that. Must mess up the whole location detection a bit. Meanwhile human body only has boring senses.

Oh yeah, the fennecs… nope. This time not even paw prints.

The leggies continue to be elusive most of the day but I managed to hit the 5 minute window where dad walked around the place. I was there 3 hours but only saw them once. Well not counting sleeping in their "den". It seems that late afternoon is a better time to catch the small one outside but I dislike that part of the day because there are so many visitors compared to when they open 9 in the morning.

Need a leggy?  Not only our zoo has tiny ones! I have them too. They are perfectly suitable as a travel companion too and will survive cuddles… and your backpack. If you'd like to give one, or both, a new home you can get them from my fox shop: Tiny leggy

I also found that I never added the microbat from my last years convention artist alley leftovers so that's been correct now. :3 Tiny bat white + purple galaxy These are really tiny and fit pockets as well, if you're in dire need of a fluffy travel companion.

There are also hellfire bats from last year's Halloween editions that didn't find a home, or a tiny awoo… wolf plushie among other things. And some gay rainbow stuff.

If you are interested in anything from the links but for some reason the shop misbehaves, I was told it happens, feel free to contact me and anything can be handled outside with additional payment option SEPA as well. Even USA shipping is technically possible but it's rather costly.

Try number 5 to find the fennec fox. And fifth failure.

But I brought back some other critters! We have a tiny leggy in the zoo, though only could find dad who was rather disturbed by the room service. I could talk to them, the room service, not the leggies, for a bit and as of today the little one is 33 days old. And they are really tiny. :D Hopefully the adventuring spirit will catch them soon and they can explore a bit further than only the den.

So, uh, leggies in the snow?

Those two are the living proof that foxes are just cats on dog hardware. They were really interested in… eating all the grass and making sure the other one won't get the best grass. Though I never knew they had such a taste for it. :D
