Showing Bryan's duckies how it's done! πŸ₯‹

This lady #duck is pulling off a mallarbesque #stretch and is getting ready to deliver a mean back kick ... which sadly I didn't capture 😁

To honour #MallardMonday and #EntenDienstag, here's a German pair of Bert & Ernie (fun fact: in the German Sesame Street, it's Ernie & Bert, not Bert & Ernie), frolicking in a canal at #Magdeburg's #Elbauenpark πŸ¦†πŸ¦†

@meoralis I’ve always thought of them as Ernie and Bert!😊

This is fun:

Bert (Ernie) & Ernie (Bert) - ToughPigs

Do you say "Bert & Ernie" or "Ernie & Bert"? And what does that say about you?

@bluejay@ohai.social πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ What did I just read!! I didn't know that it's a philosophical question who gets to be mentioned first. 🀭 With this profiling, I'm clearly a Bert & Ernie person, but it still sounds weird to my ears. And I learned that there are several other countries where Ernie comes first (France, Brazil, Egypt and Arab countries, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Turkey ...)
@meoralis I think that article was written with tongue firmly in cheek 🀣 For me it just β€œsounds right” to say Ernie and Bert β€” it flows more naturally. Or maybe I’m just used to it.
@bluejay@ohai.social That's interesting! Maybe it depends on the first-contact language for Sesame Street? πŸ˜„ Those two names are like a linguistic unit so one or the other will sound more natural to you πŸ€”
@meoralis Nice male ducks! :)
@emilgoode Thanks! πŸ˜„ This was back in April when they still had their fancy breeding plumage
@meoralis Nice, they're not rivals I can tell :)
