Sometimes you need a way to give your Keycloak users the ability to authenticate but without maintaining passwords. The users just entering their email address and get mailed a link which authenticates them immediately. Some kind of magic happens 🙌 This way of passwordless is no less secure then remembering a password. Depending on the security of the mailboxes, it might become even more secure. See the video for more details on this.
I'm developing a base software stack with #MagicLink logins. This is the first step in the UI.
Magic login offers an all-in-one login, account creation (automatic if the email doesn't exist), & account recovery (since password reset usually involves sending an email with a link anyway).
I'm going to implement a "force password" setting so users can decide to lock out anyone who doesn't have the actual password. Of course, if they do that, recovery is impossible 😬
If you are using Office 365 Outlook, it sends (at least for some users) all links to Bing for indexing. 🤦♂️ Remember Microsoft’s “Scroogled” campaign?
