Firefighters increased containment to 80% on the Lower Fire today. All road closures have been lifted. Please use caution when traveling in the area due to emergency vehicles working. Stay tuned to Shasta County Sheriff's Office for updates.

Firefighters have been working tirelessly through the night to increase containment on the Lower Fire, which is currently holding at 110 acres with 35% containment. Multiple resources will continue to work throughout the day to contain the fire.

Current road closure information from Shasta County Sheriff -

Iron Mountain Road is closed to all traffic between Sanders Lane and Highway 299.

Lower Springs Road between Highway 299 and Valparaiso are open to residents ONLY.

At this time, Highway 299 West is closed to traffic between the community of Old Shasta and Eureka Way and Buenaventura Blvd. in Redding. 1 way controlled traffic is expected to begin soon.
