“Colabianchi dimettiti“. È partita così, da un grido isolato poi diventato coro più compatto, la protesta contro il sovrintendente del Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Nicola Colabianchi contestato subito prima dell’inizio del concerto del Venerdì Santo, diretto dal maestro Michael Hofstetter.
La voce isolata che ha gridato alle dimissioni è stata subito applaudita e poi, poco a poco, buona parte del pubblico ha seguito la contestazione urlando “dimissioni, dimissioni“, mentre dal loggione alcuni lanciavano volantini.
L’ingresso degli orchestrali sul palcoscenico è stato accolto da una lunga ovazione, subito dopo, però, prima che iniziasse l’esecuzione dei brani di Vivaldi, Lotti e Pergolesi, il silenzio in sala è stato interrotto dall’urlo dello spettatore che ha dato il via alla protesta.
Già prima dell’ingresso in teatro, i sostenitori del Comitato Fenice Viva avevano distribuito un volantino in cui si leggeva: “L’azione arrogante e autoritaria del sovrintendente sta compromettendo la Fenice. Continueremo a difendere il nostro teatro. Chiediamo le dimissioni di Nicola Colabianchi”. Il Comitato Fenice Viva, composto da storici abbonati e spettatori abituali del teatro veneziano, è nato lo scorso settembre a sostegno della mobilitazione dell’Orchestra e del Coro. Al centro della contestazione, la decisione del sovrintendente di nominare Beatrice Venezi come nuova direttrice musicale della Fenice a partire dal prossimo ottobre, scelta non condivisa da parte dei musicisti, che non ritengono il suo curriculum adeguato al prestigio dell’istituzione.
È la prima volta che il pubblico della Fenice chiede esplicitamente le dimissioni del sovrintendente prima di un concerto.

“Colabianchi resign!” This is how it began, with an isolated cry that quickly became a more compact chorus, the protest against the director of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Nicola Colabianchi, who was immediately contested before the start of the Good Friday concert, conducted by Michael Hofstetter.
The isolated voice demanding his resignation was immediately applauded, and then, gradually, much of the audience joined in the protest, shouting “resignations, resignations,” while from the gallery some people handed out leaflets.
The entrance of the orchestral musicians onto the stage was greeted by a long ovation, but immediately afterwards, before the performance of the works by Vivaldi, Lotti and Pergolesi, the silence in the hall was broken by the shout of a spectator who initiated the protest.
Even before entering the theater, supporters of the Comitato Fenice Viva (Fenice Committee) had distributed a leaflet that read: “The arrogant and authoritarian actions of the director are jeopardizing the Fenice. We will continue to defend our theater. We demand the resignation of Nicola Colabianchi.” The Comitato Fenice Viva, composed of longtime subscribers and regular viewers of the Venetian theater, was formed last September to support the mobilization of the Orchestra and the Chorus. At the center of the protest was the director’s decision to appoint Beatrice Venezi as the new musical director of the Fenice starting next October, a choice that was not shared by the musicians, who believe his curriculum is not adequate for the prestige of the institution.
This is the first time the Fenice audience has explicitly demanded the resignation of the director before a concert.
