3rd gen American Born Chinese #ABC here who never had to learn how to speak #Cantonese (the native language of most ABC's).

Even though they spoke it "at" me, my parents never required me to speak it to or with them in the house or elsewhere.

Of course, they sent me to Chinese school after "regular" school but they don't teach you how to speak Chinese in Chinese school. They only teach you how to read & write it. So, I rebelled against it & skipped classes until my parents gave up wasting the $ to send me there.

On the other hand, Cantonese was spoken "around" me for decades & I understand much of what I hear but not all of it &, of course, can't speak the language in a coherent manner.

So, I've dabbled with learning how to speak Cantonese for years but have never followed thru, largely because there was no incentive to do so.

Well, I'm at it again & am using Google to translate swear words & sexual terms that I am familiar with but most of it is #LostInTranslation.

Oh dear. A bad translation issue for the product information for this replacement remote control with silicone cover.....

@GossiTheDog The translation is awful and says the exact opposite of the original article ("plans to use technologies from the USA" when the original text said ICC wanted to move away from the USA; and same error with "Microsoft is to replace").
