Where does the time go?
Rojie asks:
How do you write your posts? Do you freestyle it or do you create an outline… or?
No … or? for me. I don’t share stories or poems so my posts nowadays are freestyle I guess. I don’t outline them and they just go where they go. I look at them like freewriting.
So that’s out of the way, now what?
It kind of happened last weekend when no one was looking, but summer crept onto the scene in the wee hours of this past Sunday and you know what that means? That’s right, shorter days are here again! Yesterday was four seconds shorter than the day before and today will be eight seconds shorter than yesterday and I Love You More Today Than Yesterday.
Time flies. And pretty soon this high humidity and seemingly never-ending sunlight nonsense will be behind us and we’ll be enjoying those crisp autumn days and evenings again. I miss you Standard Time, hurry back.
I like this song and I think Nat King Cole’s version is maybe the most popular and recognizable version, but I like Sinatra’s version better because I think it’s truer to the words. Cole’s version just a little bit faster and almost his voice, to me, is bouncier and it almost makes you want to sing along. But why would you want to sing along with this song and feel good? These aren’t words that would motivate a person to feel happy or upbeat. This is a very sad song and Sinatra’s slightly slower version is lusher and he makes you feel the brokenhearted words along with him 😭.
I’d write more but I need to make up for those lost eight seconds from yesterday today. And hey, you know what? In 168 hours, the last day of June, the day will be 39 seconds shorter. Plan ahead now! Like Ben Franklin said, “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”
