(very few among a lot) Key findings: Religious practices evolve dynamically throughout the routes themselves. We're seeing how religion serves as both a coping mechanism and a framework for interpreting experiences “on the road”. Intriguing parallels / interdisciplinary encounters between migration routes and religious concepts like #pilgrimage or #exodus.

Theory of the afternoon - Katherine Tanner and the marginalised theologies of ordinary people. With a bit of Nancy Ammerman's #LivedReligion thrown in. It's all inspired me to go back to my thing about disability #theology vs theology *of* disability. I made the argument well in my thesis, but making the same idea clear in a journal article is proving tricky. But, what with my ideas being very controversial*, it's important I get it right... 😂
*Cutting edge. I mean cutting edge, of course. 😉
Churchgoing and belief in God stand at historic lows, despite a megachurch surge

The lone, striking countertrend is a steep rise…

Buildings of religious community, #Oshkosh, Wisconsin, US: 5/5, Embody Yoga Pilates.

In this series of five photos of buildings used by religious communities, I'm interpreting "religion" broadly, so as to include communities like yoga studios. #LivedReligion #ReligiousStudies

Something I've been thinking about: In a post-denominational world, has Christian nationalism in the US differentiated enough to be considered a new branch of Christianity? How does Christianity organize itself in a post-denominational world? #livedreligion #religion #religiousstudies

This video of the Purusha Suktam, a hymn from the Rig Veda, incorporates a recording of traditional chanting of the hymn with contemporary images. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuP21cAR12s

It's a fascinating example of lived religion happening on new media. I particularly like the image showing Purusha floating in space next to planets from our solar system, a visual linking of science to religion. #livedreligion #religiousstudies
