Save the Planet in little ways # 3

Try reading old books, not novels, many read those, but old factual books. Books on gardening, farming, cookery, crafts etc. contain so much information that risks being forgotten if these books are never read. Regularly scan thrift/charity stores for these treasures, they won't cost much but will tell you how things used to be done, and may need to be done again. Books from the 1940s/50s/60s and 70s are particularly ignored.

Consider ditching blowing your nose on paper tissues and get yourself some 100% cotton or linen handerchiefs. Used tissues end up all over the world often, for some reason, in supermarket trolleys. They are nasty little infected parcels of snot! And who has not inadvertently, let one get into the dark wash on occasions! Disaster! Handerchiefs can be washed and used again for many years. You can even make your own from old sheets.

@Bearhouse I LOVE fountain pens! I haven't used one since the '60's.
What a simple and brilliant idea!

Save the planet in little ways # 1

Stop buying disposable ball point pens, they are clogging up our oceans and covering the earth. Use old fashioned pencils ( you can compost the sharpenings) or get yourself a fountain pen and a bottle of ink. Don't buy a cartridge pen, they just produce more plastic waste, buy a pen with a bladder!
