Taking a little break from editing my next video.

Tonight I got tired of dealing with making sure the Nvidia driver versions were the same in Fedora in Distrobox and the Arch package so I installed Resolve to a specific folder and added the Cuda package. Maybe using the Cuda package and saying "--nvidia" (or whatever uses host video drivers) when making the container would've worked but I didn't care.

Something cool I noticed about my 3060 Ti is that now audio in Resolve becomes listenable almost instantly when I move the playhead to somewhere else compared to before where I would have to wait a while for it to be reasonable with my GTX 1060 6GB SC. I don't know if this is just an issue on Linux or if Windows has it too since I can't remember enough now, but I'm really happy.
I would gladly pay a few cents to have AAC support in Resolve on Linux, at the very least for decoding.
Seems like Resolve doesn't want to install on Fedora 40 and newer due to the zlib package changing to something else and I found this on the Black Magic Design forum:

Edit: Fixed it and updated my instructions for installing Resolve on an Arch or Arch-based (preferably not Manjaro) host with a Fedora container:

Petition to have it so Blackmagic Design has Linux users pay separately for AAC audio codec support as an add-on to Resolve Studio so at least there's a way for Linux users to have all the codecs easily if they want them and make it so the cost doesn't have to increase for anyone else. This doesn't excuse patents existing, in this case patents for math, I just want easy AAC usage.

Any video or audio guys, I've started compiling a wish list on B&H for Linux compatible hardware! Just started it so if you have any you know and/or love feel free to send and I'll get it added! Really exlcuding PC's, printers, mice/keyboards, type stuff since we all know that works with Linux lol! Hope this can be a good resource: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/find/wishlist.jsp#/b6a3b8c3e350132065c181536c148639/micah-linux-compatible-hardware-wish-list
