Great moody colours over Holyhead Breakwater today. The longest breakwater in the UK, at 1.7miles long.

It was also the setting for the lifeboat crew's portrait made by @jacklowe in April 2019, as part of the epic @lsp

In 2018, I had a chat with retired Dover RNLI Coxswain Tony Hawkins about a very unusual call for the Dover lifeboat — the rescue of passengers from the Princess Margaret SRN4 Cross Channel hovercraft following a fatal collision with the harbour wall on 30th March 1985.

Pictures within pictures: Did you know that #WetCollodion is still the highest resolution #photography process, even 171 years after its invention?

This means there are often pictures within pictures, things you wouldn’t have necessarily spotted with the naked eye.

For example, take this photograph I made in 2017 of the view from #Whitby #RNLI lifeboat station.

Look closely and you’ll see people on *two* benches in the crop. I wonder what they were chatting about.

This was one of the trickier plates to make on the project because my mobile darkroom was parked a fair way from the station, so I had to scurry through the cobbled alleyways.
