Reading the April chapter of Aldo Leopold's 1949 "Sand County Almanac" to hear about April floods, oak openings and their disappearance with the coming of the settler, and the peenting of the woodcock.

There must be more books of natural history, written with one chapter per month in mind, composed over the span of a lifetime's observation or in one single year-long sitting. The back mentions Annie Dillard, Edward Abbey, Robert Finch.

I spent a chunk of yesterday cataloguing my DVD collection using #Librarything. Yes, it was a #GoodFriday.

current books flow:
book ➡️ track on #LibraryThing

future maybe:
book ➡️ update data on #OpenLibrary ➡️ import book OL data into #BookWyrm ➡️ track on BookWyrm

why:
- simpler tracking site with less features seems less stressful. read more, online less (BW)
- supports open source projects (BW, OL)
- public data helps everyone (OL)

why I haven't switched yet:
- love LibraryThing's features: full edition control, stats, recs, data, etc.

plan: try the new flow for a while, then decide...

Oh, right... For those who don't know, #LibraryThing is a "catalog and review all your books" site, similar to #Goodreads, but without all the apparatus that steers people toward #Amazon, Amazon-Amazon & Amazonian Amazon subsidiaries.

Today your friendly neighborhood rodent imported all of the #SROP books into #LibraryThing, just for fun. It worked. The part that didn't work was covers. Oh, well, nobody judges a book by its lurid cover, right?

After much lollygagging, foot-dragging, some dawdling, a touch of dillydallying, and a bit of shilly-shallying, I've migrated my reading library & tracking over to #LibraryThing. So far, so good.
New Year's resolution acheived. 🎉

Goodbye & good riddance #GoodReads!

Just in time for a little nostalgic binge of Niven's Ringworld books as a respite from the world. I haven't done much, if any, review writing. Maybe that will change after escaping that horrendous UI.

Today I scanned about 100 books into my #librarything library.

This app and website kinda suck, and I'm told it's the best option out there for tracking a physical library? Really??
