This is Franklin, and he recently had the luckiest day of his life 🐂❤️

This inspiring freedom story is from Animal Liberation Victoria's Liberation Sanctuary:

A few weeks ago, one of our volunteers who had left for the day came running back to ALV’s Liberation Sanctuary saying there was a cow on the road. We jumped in the car and sure enough a few hundred metres down the winding country road there was a cow in the middle of a dangerous bend.

One of our team stayed to stop traffic while another went to get treats to guide him off the road. When we returned there were several cars backed up each way, and our volunteer, Laura, was successfully leading the cow to safety on sanctuary grounds.

Unfortunately, soon the 'owners' showed up and saw him in our paddock. They said they had accidentally left a gate open and wanted him back, as he was scheduled for slaughter in a few days. It soon became apparent that it would not be an easy or safe task to get him back up the road.

Our volunteer Noah eventually managed to convince the neighbour that this cow they had had for four years and who was loved by their children, would have a happy life at the sanctuary, and said that their children would always be welcome to visit him. After some negotiation and appealing to their better angels, he was released into our care.

We decided to name him Franklin, which means freedom. And he will now live out the rest of his life with our herd of rescued cows in the hills and valleys of Liberation Sanctuary, forever safe from slaughter.

📣SANCTUARY NEWS

Last Saturday (Sep 7) a working bee was held at Liberation Sanctuary and we wanted to thank all the wonderful volunteers who helped out on the day.

Below are words by Patty Mark, founder of Animal Liberation Victoria, Liberation Sanctuary and co-founder of Vegan Easy:

A HUGE shout out to all the kind and hard-working volunteers (not all pictured) who came to Liberation Sanctuary working bee Saturday! Your help and loving care of the animals here is so appreciated! ❤️

All the volunteers helping here mean the world to me. At 75, I must admit it's getting harder to do all I used to do or want to do. I have so many photos of good people interacting and caring for the animals here that never see the light of social media...

Animals, including the kind-hearted human ones, make our world go around. Let's keep working hard so they all can get the respect, love and care they deserve ❤️

We're so close to our goal! Will you (symbolically) Adopt a Turkey to support an Australian animal sanctuary just in time for Christmas?

https://adopt-a-turkey.raisely.com/

Please help us to make #Christmas a time of joy and warmth for all beings. Funds raised from your symbolic adoption will be passed onto farmed #AnimalSanctuaries around #Australia to help them care for rescued #turkeys.

You can help birds like Tom & Jeri, 1 year old best mates who follow each other around their home at #LiberationSanctuary in Victoria. Gentle, curious, intelligent, social, chatty and sensitive, these birds almost always reach sanctuary with horrific mutilations done in the name of 'welfare'. Ruined beaks and mutilated feet are common.

Please help Tom & Jeri, and other turkeys like them, by supporting our treasured Australian farmed animal sanctuaries who care for all animals fortunate enough to find their way to a place of safety.

So far we have raised $1948 for these beautiful creatures. Can you help us reach our goal of $2000 for Australian farmed animal sanctuaries this Christmas?
