Happy Turkey Day! The first is one of the older (non-family) pictures in my archives, from 1987 and well before I was a birder. This *large* bird showed up in my backyard in New Jersey, so I grabbed my camera… The second is fairly recent, from the Berkshires, where flocks of wild turkeys are reasonably common. The third is from Battery Park in Manhattan, a place where turkeys are definitely *not* common (except, of course, for some of our politicians). She was nicknamed Astoria, because it's believed she flew into Manhattan from the Astoria neighborhood of Queens. Finally, for variety, there's a turkey vulture…
