Mobile internet was suspended in the North Tripura district from 15th to 18th October 2024. The government banned the internet after communal tension flared up in the city.

North Tripura District has enforced a prohibitory order and suspended mobile internet for three days after communal tensions erupted. Following the vandalism of a Shiva temple and a mosque in Pekucherra, heavy security has been deployed to maintain order. Peace efforts are ongoing, and the situation is currently under control.
