I was in an Eisteddfod last week - my kids were competing.
The 'Llywydd y Dydd' said a few words that really struck home. She said that the big thing that compeitors learn in an Eisteddfod is how to lose, and to keep on coming back, better and stronger.
And guess what? That is also the biggest skill that a language learner needs! Some people will learn more quickly than you. Some will learn 'better' than you. But you will *always* succeed if you keep on keeping on.
I was reminded again today about practice (a theme I will repeat often!)
Specifically - if you are learning Welsh, and go to a coffee morning to 'practice' - what are you practising *for*?
Rather than constantly 'practising' to reach some mythical endpoint, why not enjoy the Welsh you have now, using it to socialise and take part in your community.
In other words, stop trying to become 'fluent' and start enjoying the life-long journey that Welsh offers you!
